Dr Rosato earned his MSc, and Ph.D at the University Paris XI, Pasteur Institute, Paris, France. She is an internationally recognized expert on molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance with emphasis in multi-drug resistant pathogens (MDR), clinical impact of resistance, and the molecular epidemiology and evolution of MDR, the host human response during MDR infections and in the effects of antimicrobials and immunotherapies (e.g. cancer) on the microbiome. Her works have been published extensively (> 60) . She is Editor in numerous journals of the ASM, former standing reviewer, ad-hoc of NIH and European Agencies in where her input has contributed to important funding decisions.

Melissa Maginnis, PhDAssociate Professor of Microbiology, University of Maine

Dr. Melissa Maginnis is an Associate Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences at The University of Maine. She was born and raised in Pennsylvania and earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Neumann College. Dr. Maginnis earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Vanderbilt University in Dr. Terry Dermody’s laboratory and performed postdoctoral training at Brown University in Dr. Walter Atwood’s laboratory. Dr. Maginnis joined the UMaine faculty in 2014, and her laboratory at UMaine is focused on defining how the human JC polyomavirus recognizes and invades host cells; this work can ultimately elucidate targets for novel antiviral therapies to prevent or treat viral illnesses.

Moderator: Marsha Rolle, PhDVisiting Professor of Chemical Engineering, Roux Institute at Northeastern University

Marsha Rolle, Ph.D. is a visiting professor of chemical engineering at the Roux Institute at Northeastern University in Portland, ME.
