Workshop 2: Crafting Your 60-Second Science Story
Speaker: Elena Brondolo, MPH, MBA, EdD (The Roux Institute)
This interactive workshop helps researchers cut through the jargon and technical language and get to the heart of what makes their work matter. You’ll craft a compelling elevator pitch that explains your research in a way that connects with people – whether they’re potential funders, collaborators, or someone you meet at a conference. Through engaging exercises and feedback from peers, you’ll walk away with a clear, confident 60-second pitch that answers the crucial “so what?” question about your research without putting anyone to sleep.
3:00-3:45PM
Workshop 3: Show Your Science
Speaker: Marnie MacLean (Moose Tree Media)
You can be the best scientist but your work won’t have an impact if you can’t tell others what you are discovering. You have to know how to communicate your science to various audiences. Even the most complicated science has a story, and it’s important to learn how to tell that story in a way that is both engaging and informative. In this workshop we’ll look at why it’s so important for you to learn how to show your science and discuss specific “news you can use” tips to help you find your science story and share it with the world.
