BioME Scholarships

Awards & Grants for life science majors

Funded by Bioscience Association of Maine, a non-profit life science industry group devoted to advancing bioscience in Maine, the BioME Scholarship Program offers an opportunity for recent high school graduates, undergraduate and graduate students in the field of life science to realize and accomplish their academic goals.

This program was designed to help advance Maine students’ academic and professional careers in the field of bioscience, as well as enhance workforce development within Maine’s life sciences industry.

Students can receive a BioME Academic Scholarship ($5,000), BioME Summer Internship Award ($5,000), BioME Seed Grant (up to $6,000), or BioME Travel/Conference Award (up to $2,000). This program is available for Maine residents or students enrolled in Maine academic institutions only. Visit specific pages for further eligibility requirements. Please note that applicants may apply to multiple scholarships but are eligible to receive only one BioME Scholarship (any category) per academic year.

Academic Scholarship

$5,000

Scholarship for high school seniors and undergraduate students
majoring in life sciences. Funding to cover costs associated with attending university.

Summer Internship Award

$5,000

Award for undergraduate and graduate students who are interning at an unpaid or minimally funded internship with a Maine employer. Funding to cover costs associated with internship and additional room and board.

Seed Grant

Up to $6,000

Award for undergraduate and graduate students conducting original life science research. Funding to cover costs associated with research-related expenses.

Travel/Conference Award

Up to $2,000

Award for undergraduate and graduate students who have had their research accepted for presentation at a professional life sciences conference. Funding to cover costs associated with attendance.
